Bonnie E. Vermillion is recognized as an NAPW VIP Woman of the Year for her outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession

Garden City, NY (PRWEB) September 02, 2014

NAPW honors Bonnie E. Vermillion, owner of BEV, LLC as a 2014 Professional Woman of the Year for leadership in marketing and training healthy lifestyles with this prestigious distinction. As the largest networking organization of women in the country, the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) is a powerfully vibrant networking community with over 600,000 members and more than 300 local chapters.

For 20 years, Ms. Vermillion enjoyed a successful career in materials management and purchasing. She eventually made the decision to go into the wellness field, primarily in assisted living/long-term care. Most of her time was spent as director of resident services at Culpeper Baptist Retirement Community. Now, Ms. Vermillion heads her own company, BEV, LLC and strives to keep persons as independent and healthy as possible.

As owner of BEV, LLC, Ms. Vermillion manages the Healthy-Steps/Lebed Method exercise program, which is geared towards persons of any age with chronic conditions that limit their participation in mainstream exercise groups. The program was developed to control lymphedema in breast cancer survivors and now has multiple studies that show its success with lymphedema as well as with older adults in general. Ms. Vermillion has administered numerous Falls Prevention programs and worked with Aging Together to advocate for senior programs.

She became a certified Healthy-Steps instructor in 2007, a trainer of new instructors in 2010 and a master trainer in 2014, prior to acquiring the business in June of this year. A cancer survivor, Ms. Vermillion entered this half of her wellness career at the age of 60. She currently leads seven exercise classes a week while managing her business. She also teaches CPR and volunteers with Aging Together, Hospice of the Rapidan, Alzheimer's Association and Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services.

Ms. Vermillion is also certified with American Senior Fitness Association and American Council on Exercise as a group exercise instructor. She is also certified as an instructor by the Arthritis Foundation in their Aqua Fitness program and by American Red Cross as a CPR/AED/FA instructor.

I find great satisfaction helping persons with chronic conditions to live safely" says Ms. Vermillion.
