Bethesda, MD (PRWEB) August 18, 2014
The National Foundation for Cancer Research is giving a voice to the personal stories of those whose lives have been forever changed by cancer. The Humans of NFCR project is a commitment to celebrate the people in our communities who are living with cancer; the loved ones who support them; and the researchers working tirelessly to find new treatments and cures.
Sarah Byrd, 33 a top salesperson in Atlanta, Ga. for couture shoe designer Jimmy Choo shares her gripping and emotional story as a podcast for the launch of Humans of NFCR. Ms. Byrd, who is three years in remission after being diagnosed with diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, said, I am beyond thankful for what research has done for me. I dont want to see anyone else suffer from this disease or die from it. Without research, we cant find a cure.
Designed to mirror the wildly successful photo project Humans of New York, Humans of NFCR strives to highlight the courage and experiences of these everyday heroes.
I have come to know the most amazing people in my life through my work with the National Foundation for Cancer Research, said the charitys COO, Dr. Sujuan Ba. Humanizing the face of cancer -- and sharing the stories of courage, hope, resilience and loss -- honors the lives we are working so hard to save.
Each week, Humans of NFCR will highlight a new and powerful story from the people that make up the charitys extended family: donors, supported scientists, staff, patients and their loved ones. If you want to be a Human of NFCR go to http://www.NFCR.org and like us on Facebook.com/TheNFCR.
