Driver Arrested in Suspected Drunk Driving Crash

VISALIA, Calif. (KMPH) -

A teenage driver was arrested following a crash that killed a man near Visalia Saturday morning.

The crash happened along Highway 198 near Farmersville Boulevard around 5:30 a.m. Officers with the California Highway Patrol say 19-year-old Gustavo Pineda was driving his car at speeds of over 100 miles per hour when he rammed into a truck in front of him.

The impact sent the truck into the center divider, killing the 60-year-old man who was driving it.

Two passengers in Pineda's car were flown to a Fresno hospital with major injuries. CHP officers say that neither man was wearing a seat belt.

Pineda suffered minor injuries in the accident and is in custody facing DUI charges.
