Tulare Motel Robbed at Gunpoint

TULARE, Calif. (KMPH) -

A man walked into a motel near Tulare on Friday and robbed an employee and customers at gunpoint.

The robbery happened around 5:30 p.m. at the Motel 99 along Highway 99 just north of Tulare. Wearing sunglasses, a black t-shirt, and black shorts, the man pulled out a gun and demanded money from the female hotel clerk.

The man then walked up to a customer in the lobby and took his wallet. The whole thing was caught on the motel's security camera.

Tulare County Sheriff's deputies say the man left in a vehicle but that they do not know what that car looks like. They also would not say just how much money the thief got away with.

No one was hurt in the robbery, but a manager at the hotel says the female clerk was panicked by the whole incident.

If you have any information that could help identify the robber, you can call the Tulare County Sheriff's Department at 559-733-6218.
