As you celebrate the Fourth of July, health experts say you may want to protect your hearing while you enjoy the fireworks.
Hearing loss is often believed to be an issue that progresses over time. However, it can also be caused by an instantaneous loud noise.
The American Speech Language Hearing Association Recommends standing a safe distance away from fireworks and use ear plugs if necessary.
Experts say any noise levels at fireworks shows can get louder than 100 decibels. Anything above 85 decibels has the potential for causing permanent hearing loss.
