Worst Companies To Work For

Posted:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

What are the nation's worst companies to work for? A new report out from 24–7 Wall Street created this list after analyzing reviews from jobs and career website GlassDoor.com.

5.) Brookdale Senior Living. According to reviews, several current and former employees reported poor management, understaffing and high turnover.

4.) Jos. A. Bank clothiers. Sales managers frequently expressed frustration at the number of hours they were required to work. Sales employees also complained about the company's difficult commission structure – and that customers were often demanding.

3.) Frontier Communications. It's one of the larger communications companies in the U.S. – known for providing services to rural and smaller American towns and cities. The company has been downsizing its workforce in recent years, dropping by about a thousand employees between 2012 and 2013. Employees also said Frontier is not on the forefront of communications technology – saying hiring is low because, according to one reviewer, "No one wants to work on a dinosaur."

2.) Express Scripts – a pharmacy benefits manager. Poor work to life balance was one of the most common complaints on GlassDoor.com.

1.) Books a Million. The company had more than 250 stores nationwide at the beginning of the year, with about 5,400 employees, but most of them were part–time. High stress and low pay was a huge complaint for books a million. The company also uses commission based pay structures for its workers.

According to the survey -  Starbucks and Costco ranked highly among employees because of benefits and pay above industry standards in retail.
