Marijuana Linked To Insomnia

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A new study finds people who use marijuana may have a harder time falling and staying asleep and may feel drowsy during the day.

Researchers looked at nearly 2.000 adults who reported how often they used marijuana in the past month, and if they had trouble sleeping.

They found people who started using marijuana before they turned 15 years old were about twice as likely to have severe problems falling asleep.

Researchers noted this does not mean marijuana use causes sleep problems. They say it's possible people already suffering with insomnia turn to marijuana to help them sleep.

Study authors say as marijuana use becomes legal in some states, it will be important to understand it's impact on people’s health.
