Fresno Police Call Off Search, Man Wanted for Murder

Fresno Police have called off a search for a wanted man, after putting a Southeast Fresno neighborhood on alert Monday night.

The search focused on homes in the area of Cedar and Iowa, near Roosevelt High School.

Neighbors say that officers told them the man was wanted for murder.

They say that officers had been following a car, when it crashed into parked car at a home at Verrue and Cedar around 9:20 p.m. They say three people inside bolted from the car, and two were detained.

The third man bailed from the scene, and dozens of officers set up a perimeter in carried out an extensive search that spanned at least six blocks, from Eighth Street to Cedar, and from Illinois to Tulare Avenue.

Neighbors posted on the KMPH Fox 26 News Facebook page that officers told them to stay inside and not answer the doors.

Others were forced out of their homes while officers searched their garages and back yards for the man.

Officers did not provide information on the wanted man’s name, or with what case he’s connected.
