Clippers Owner Says He's Not Racist In First Interview Since NBA Ban

Posted:

LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling is speaking out for the first time since being banned from the NBA.

He spoke with our partners at CNN, and says he's sorry for hurting so many people.

Sterling: "For them to hear that I'm a possible racist is so painful to me, because I'm not a racist and I've never been a racist. It's not me."

Anderson Cooper: "When you saw the players wear their warm up jerseys in reverse so the clippers name wasn't on, what did you think?"

Sterling:” I really didn't pay attention. They are clippers, and they're mine and I'm theirs.”

Meanwhile, the NBA says if Donald Sterling ends up losing ownership of the Clippers, so does his wife Shelly.

According to the NBA constitution, ``if a controlling owner's interest is terminated by a three-fourths vote, all other team owners' interests are automatically terminated as well.''

But Shelly Sterling now says she feels her stake in the team should be separate.

By the way, the Clippers beat the Thunder Sunday 101 to 99.
