MARIPOSA COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -
An elderly man missing for nearly three days was found alive Friday morning.
Searchers located 78-year-old Karl Sehmsdorf in a steep, heavily-wooded drainage area about two miles from his home in Mariposa County.
Sehmsdorf, who has dementia and Alzheimer's, had gone for a walk Tuesday afternoon on his family's 69-acre property near Highway 49 and never returned.
Searchers were able to locate the man using a tracking bracelet he was wearing. His family had fitted him with the bracelet when his illnesses became more severe.
Sehmsdorf was airlifted to a hospital in Modesto. He is in stable condition.
