Storyland & Playland Items Up For Auction

Posted: Updated:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) - Oldies but goodies from Rotary Playland and Storyland are now up for auction online through May 9th.

The Seven Dwarfs and Snow White have spent years locked in a storage closet, but they will be going home to a winning bidder soon.

Lynda Restovich is general manager for both parks. "A lot of the items have been in storage for a very long time.  Some of them we can't use anymore because they're Disney themed and we don't have the rights to them," said Restovich.

Other items up for auction include an owl, a fish and a cat.  They're all made of concrete and the fish was a gift from Fresno City Firefighters Local 753 in May of 1962.

The big ticket items at Playland next door include seven Tilt-O-Whirl cars that were retired a couple years ago at Playland. A tea cup for another retired ride is also up for bidding.

The Center for Advanced Research and Technology students put together the online auction. "CART has internships for all of their students. It was an opportunity for them to learn real world online marketing and social media. They had to create a budget and a creative marketing plan."

Proceeds from the auction will be used to spruce up Storyland landmarks.

The bidding ends on May 9th.
