Valley Air Quality Gets An "F" From The American Lung Association

Posted:
FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) - We're all too familiar with bad air quality here in the Central Valley. But how bad is it?

A new report from the American Lung Association shows it really can't get much worse.

The report shows an increase in ozone readings from last year.

It also shows that nearly 150 million people live in areas where air quality is unhealthy.

That's 16 million more than last year.

Here's how the American Lung Association graded air quality in central valley counties.

Fresno, Kings, Madera, Mariposa, Merced, and Tulare counties all got an F.

California didn't fare well as a state.

Lots of bad grades were dished out.

Los Angeles, San Diego, and Sacramento counties all got an F as well.

San Francisco got an A.

The American Lung Association says the clean air act has helped, but we still have a ways to go before the air is completely clear.
