Weapons And Drugs Found 1,000 Feet From Playground

Posted:
MERCED, Calif. (KMPH) - A Merced man is in jail after deputies found weapons and drugs in his home, 1,000 feet from a children's playground.

40–year–old Javier Ramirez was arrested Wednesday night after a month long investigation.

The Madera County Narcotic Enforcement Team found eight pounds of methamphetamine, a loaded gun and a large indoor marijuana growing operation with over 300 plants at his home in Merced.

The indoor plants covered three quarters of the man’s house.

Agents also found that Ramirez bypassed the PG&E meter to steal electricity for his growing operation.

Officers believe Ramirez was bringing the drugs in Chowchilla.

Ramirez was booked for possession of meth and marijuana, possession of a firearm and power theft.

Agents will seek another drug felony charge of having drugs within 1,000 feet of a school or park.
