Pat Tillman Killed By Friendly Fire 10 Years Ago

Posted:
Tuesday marked the 10-year anniversary of the death of Pat Tillman, killed in a friendly fire accident in Afghanistan.

Corporal Tillman was an NFL defensive back for the Arizona Cardinals.

Tillman was called a hero after turning down a contract extension so he could join the Army following the 9-11 attacks.

He was killed by friendly fire from other U.S. troops that thought they were firing on the enemy.

Tillman was 27-years-old when he died. His widow runs a foundation in his name that awards scholarships to veterans.
