Large Pot Grow Found Under House in Livingston

Posted: Updated:
LIVINGSTON, Calif. (KMPH) -

An anonymous tip led Merced County Sheriff's deputies to a large illegal marijuana grow under a house in Livingston Friday.

Investigators discovered around 400 mature plants in an elaborate grow in the basement of the home on an almond orchard. The set-up even included a make-shift entrance at the back of the home.

Victor Barajas, 40, was arrested in connection with the grow. Investigators say they took him into custody after he drove by in a car detectives knew to belong to the man living there.

Barajas was renting the home from the property owner.

Sheriff's deputies estimate the value of the plants to be around $500 thousand, but say if they hadn't shut it down, the operation could've produced nearly $1.5 million worth of pot.
