Don't Throw Away That Sprouted Veggie - It's Good For You!

Although, it's generally something we throw away, a new study shows old garlic bulbs that have "sprouted" actually have more antioxidants, than the fresher garlic bulb.

Scientists found that garlic sprouted for five days protected cells in a laboratory dish from some types of damage.

Experts say sprouting could be a way to boost the health benefits of garlic.

The root vegetable is known as a natural way to reduce cholesterol, blood pressure and heart disease risk. Other studies have found it can boost the immune system and help fight cancer.

Other research has long shown sprouted foods have higher nutrients like sprouted wheat, mung beans, alfalfa, and broccoli.
