Clovis Motorcycle Chase Ends with Crash, Arrest

Posted: Updated:

A Clovis man is now in jail after officers say, he led them on a chase and crashed into a truck along a busy roadway.
It happened around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

Clovis Police say 46-year-old Richard Cooper was riding a motorcycle without a helmet.

A woman was his passenger.

They tried to pull him over, but he did not stop.

He eventually wound up going into oncoming traffic on Peach Avenue and Richert.

A truck that was traveling southbound on Peach ran into Cooper, knocking him and his passenger off the motorcycle.

Officers took Cooper into custody and the passenger was taken to the hospital.

Officers later learned the motorcycle was stolen out of Fresno.

The truck that crashed with the motorcycle left the scene moments after the crash.

It was found abandoned at an apartment complex down the street.

The driver later turned himself in, and officers say he did not have a license.
