Saving Money: Why People Aren't Shopping At The Grocery Store

Posted:

There's a new trend in grocery shopping. More people are skipping the grocery store.

A recent study found that more than 75 % of Americans bought their food for the week, at least once, from non–traditional stores last year. These are stores that aren't solely food stores and sell many other retail items, like pharmacies or big box chain stores.

The most popular non–traditional grocer is Target. In second place – Walmart followed by Walgreens, CVS and Costco.

Also on the list – farmers markets and food stalls, Dollar Tree, 7–Eleven, Kmart, Rite Aid, Family Dollar and Starbucks

And, this trend was consistent throughout many generations – from Millennials to Generation X to Baby Boomers.
