Buchanan Star Pitcher Rehabbing After Car Hit Him

Clovis, CA -

Buchanan left hander Jack Wheeless had a pretty incredible year in 2013 - went 11-1 on the mound for the TRAC champion Bears, and even threw back-to-back no-hitters. He also committed to play Division One ball at Long Beach State, a longtime dream. But there was also a nightmare he lived through, while on a six mile run near his home in Clovis.

A car running a red light struck Wheeless in the crosswalk, ultimately leaving the senior with a compound fracture of the left humerus (his throwing arm), and a lacerated kidney.

After less than two months with that arm in a splint, Wheeless began rehab, to take an arm essentially locked at 90 degrees, and find a way to still pitch this season. He's hoping for a mid to late March return to the hill.
