FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

The hunt is on for a 19-year-old copper wire thief.

Fresno police say Javier Lopez has caused tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to local schools.

In the past 30 days, detectives say Lopez has hit Fresno's Winchell Elementary, Lane Elementary, Leavenworth Elementary, Roosevelt High School, and Ewing Elementary.

Police say surveillance video caught Lopez red handed.

Detectives say he is wanted for felony vandalism and grand theft. Detectives say Lopez is suspected of tearing apart air-conditioner units, stealing the metal parts and copper wire.

So far, detectives say he's caused more than $35,000 dollars in damage.

Lopez is known to ride a black mountain bike with an attached bike trailer, which police say he uses to carry burglary tools and stolen property.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call CrimeStoppers, at (559) 621-STOP (7867).

You can receive up to a $1,000 reward for information leading to his arrest.
