Porterville Woman's Financial Information Stolen After Shopping At Target

Posted:
PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KMPH) -

A Porterville woman says she can't pay her rent and she can't buy groceries, because she shopped at Target on Black Friday.

Torrie Azzano says she thought her money was fine, but on Monday she found out that wasn't the case anymore.

"I don't have a lot of money, so that would be the last thing on my mind that somebody would take something so precious to me," says Azzano.

The Porterville woman is on disability and her government issued debit card is her life line.

"Anything I buy from groceries, to toiletries, to paying bills, to anything, it's all off of this card," adds Azzano, "It's my whole life pretty much."

Azzano used her debit card at the Porterville Target. She stood in line for 33 hours and saved for months to buy a television. She says she never imagined in a million years that when she swiped her debit card and typed in her pin number all that information would be stolen.

"I can't pay my rent, because I have to pay a late fee," says Azzano, "They're saying I have to wait 4 to 6 weeks to get the money."

Until then Azzano can only take $100 in cash out of her account. Even though she has an I.D. she also had to go to the DMV to get a proof of identification document.

She says she hopes the people that hacked Target get what's coming to them.

"They ruined a lot of people's lives. A lot of people out here don't have a lot of money, so the little bit of money we do have we have to make that money stretch," she says, "I hope they go to prison for a very, very, very long time."

Azzano's friends and family are helping her get by until everything is straightened out.

Target released new details Thursday about how to protect your financial information from crooks. If you would like to read more about it click here.
