Hackers Hit Snapchat Social Network

If you use the social sharing app called Snapchat... You may now want to check your account.

Information belonging to nearly 5–million users appeared online Tuesday.

User names and at least partial phone numbers were available for download.

By late Wednesday morning, that site had been suspended.

Snapchat lets users send each other photos and videos that quickly disappear.

In a late December blog post, Snapchat described how its Find Friends feature allows users to upload their contact lists to Snapchat to connect with friends.

The company says it has safeguards in place to protect its users.
