Thieves Steal A Fresno Family's Beloved Christmas Decoration

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A Fresno family says they're upset that thieves have stolen a Christmas decoration close to their heart.

The Boyd house in Fresno is full of Christmas cheer. The tree is trimmed and the stockings are up. One of the stockings is for their son, Randy Boyd, who was killed in a car accident right before Christmas 14–years ago.

"This time of year is always hard," says Randy Boyd, whose son was killed in a car accident, "Christmas is supposed to be happy, so we continued on for our son."

To honor his memory the Boyd's kept celebrating and decorating for their son's favorite holiday. One decoration that their son loved was a Snoopy dressed as Santa.

"In fact my son Randy used to put the Snoopy in a certain place and move it to another area, just goofing around with me," adds Boyd.

On the morning of December 4th Boyd says when he left for work he noticed his beloved Snoopy was gone.

"To have that Snoopy taken was like missing him all over again. You know it's like a piece of him gone," says Boyd.

The Fresno man says he considered taking all of his Christmas decorations down, but decided to leave them up. He hopes the thieves have a heart and return what they stolen.

"It's a giving time of year, not a taking," says Boyd, "So, I would appreciate it if I could get it back."

The Boyd's say the thieves also stole a nativity scene, a snowman and a tree.
