Aspartame is off the black list. Once considered a cancer causer, it's now considered safe – this is according to a review from the European Food Safety Authority, who says it's disproven the negative health issues around this sweetener. That includes the theory that it can also cause behavior problems in children.
Experts in Europe recommend adults drink no more than 2,800 milligrams of aspartame– a– day.
That's the equivalent of about 15 cans of diet soda.
Again, these are health officials in Europe, not in the U.S.
