VISALIA, Calif. (KMPH) -

One by one hundreds of people in Visalia stepped up to the plate, to donate for a good cause.

It was day two of the "Toys for Tots," and "Gifts for seniors" event.

This was the 5th year for the event, hosted by Advanced Career Institute.

"Oh its great today, this is the best year we have ever had," said Kent Hitch, a "Toys for Tots" representative.

Boxes filled to the brim with toys, surrounded the Visalia shopping center.

But organizers say, this year wasn't all about the kids.

"Seniors in the community don't have a lot of income so we try to get them some extra help during the holidays," said Hitch.

They collected extra blankets, robes, and gloves to help make the holidays a little warmer, and little easier.

Pretty things on wheels helped draw in the masses.

Raymond Corona, who fixes up cars for a living, donated his time, and his fixed up car, for the showcase.

"It feels good. It makes us look good in the community. They don't just think we are out on the streets messing around," said Corona.

The guys put their auto skills to good use for a good cause.

Cars in shimmery red, cars that dropped low, and cars filled with character made their debut.

The guys laid out their most impressive rides, letting even some of their youngest critics, take a seat behind the wheel.

According to organizers, more than 500 people came out to support the cause.
