Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit By Train In Fresno

FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -


Fresno police say just before 7:00 a.m., a man in his 50s was walking his bike along the train tracks near Church and East.

The man waited for a freight train to pass but stepped out in front of an oncoming Amtrak traveling the other way.

Police believe it was just an accident.

Fresno police are trying to figure out how a person was struck by a train Monday morning.

The accident happened at Church and Golden State Blvd in South Fresno.

Police say a person walking a bike was struck by an Amtrak train and died at the scene.

The east and west bound lanes of Church Avenue were closed at S. East Ave while they investigated the scene, but has since been reopened.
