Suspect Killed In Home Invasion Robbery Near Orange Cove

The Fresno County Sheriff's Department has announced the identity of the suspect killed in a home invasion robbery attempt on Sunday.

28-year-old Israel Gomez, Jr. of Visalia was shot and killed by the homeowner during a robbery attempt.

The homeowner was also shot multiple times but is expected to survive.

The Fresno County Sheriff's Department released an update late Monday afternoon.

They say the homeowner says two armed men posing as law enforcement officers forced their way in and exchanged gunfire.

One suspect died in the shootout and the homeowner was shot multiple times. His condition is not known at this time.

During the investigation, deputies found over 100 pounds of processed marijuana at the home.

The investigation is ongoing.

 


 

The Fresno County Sheriffs Department is investigating a shooting near Orange Cove.

One person was killed and a man was taken to the hospital.

The crime happened around 9:00 p.m. Sunday night and investigators were still on the scene Monday morning trying to determine what happened.

Deputies believe it was a home invasion robbery and the homeowner opened fire, killing one of two robbers.

The homeowner was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The second suspect fled the scene.
