Five years ago, Dr. Jennifer Crocker arrived at Children's Hospital of Central California to be the medical director at the rehab center. She immediately recognized the opportunity and need for an adaptive sports program.
That program now is in full swing. Crocker says some of the goals of the program include seeing an obstacle, and "assessing whether or not you're going to be a part of conquering that obstacle." Also, "it's the psychological component, it's a social atmosphere, it's being able to interact with other people with your same disability and see what the possibilities are."
The adaptive sports program begins wheelchair basketball practice this week. It's their first ever team, and they're still looking for interested participants or coaches. You can get in touch with Dr. Crocker and the team from Children's Hospital by calling 559.353.6130 or emailing email@example.com
