Here's the news release from Caltrans:

CALTRANS AND HIGH-SPEED RAIL AUTHORITY TO HOST A PUBLIC INFORMATION MEETING FOR STATE ROUTE 99- REALIGNMENT PROJECT

Fresno – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in partnership with the California High-Speed Rail Authority (Authority), will hold a joint public information meeting to update the public on the status of the upcoming State Route (SR) 99 Realignment Project between Clinton and Ashlan Avenue in the City of Fresno.

An Open House style meeting will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd at the Mental Health Systems (Old Hacienda Hotel) offices located at 2550 Clinton Avenue, from 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Representatives from Caltrans and the Authority will be on-site to answer questions and provide the latest project information to local businesses and residents.

The realignment is part of the high-speed rail corridor of projects for the Merced to Fresno segment of the project. This realignment of SR 99 accommodates the high-speed rail project which will be located between the existing SR 99 and the Union Pacific Railroad. Additionally, the project will improve traffic operations, reduce congestion, and enhance traffic safety. Caltrans will begin construction on this $225 million project in spring 2016.
