Central Valley Honor Flights Honors WWII Vets

Posted:
LEMOORE, Calif. (KMPH) -

Two local members of The Greatest Generation are headed to Washington D.C.

World War II veterans Les Collins of Hanford and Julian Mazuka of Lemoore were honored at a dinner on Tuesday in Lemoore.

The men will be the first to take part in the Central Valley Honor Flight that will carry them to D.C. to visit the World War II Memorial next month.

The memorial was built in 2004 and many veterans have not seen it, and the Honor Flight Network is working to make that happen by raising money to take local vets.

There are nearly 5,000 World War II veterans in the Central Valley and KMPH Fox 26 would like to thank them for their service.
