Hawaii Explains The Haka

We do not know if injured Hawaii quarterback Taylor Graham will be able to play Saturday night against 23rd ranked Fresno State. But we do know we will see the Haka.

The Rainbow Warriors have made the intimidating Polynesian dance a traditional part of their pregame routine, home and away.

The dictionary defines Haka as an ancestral war cry, dance or challenge originating with the Maori people of New Zealand.

Hawaii defensive lineman Siasau Matagiese says the intensity of the Haka helps the Rainbow Warriors prepare their minds and souls for each game.

So far the intensity of the Haka has not translated to the playing field. Hawaii is 0-3 heading into the game against the 3-0 Bulldogs of Fresno State.
