Firefighters are continuing to make progress on the Aspen Fire in Sierra National Forest, with 75 percent containment reported on Monday morning.
Light winds from the southwest were blowing smoke away from the county, improving local air quality.
The total acreage burned stood at 20,617 acres on Monday. Backfire operations were scheduled to continue, "put(ting) additional smoke into the atmosphere," however.
Lightning ignited the blaze on Tuesday, July 23. Three structures have been threatened, officials said. At least three minor firefighter injuries have been reported.
