Vidak Takes District 16 Election

Republican Andy Vidak will fill Michael Rubio's spot as the District 16 representative in the State Senate.

Vidak clinched the win with more than 53 percent of the voters and more than 39,000 total votes.

His competitor, Leticia Perez, earned just more than 34,000 votes.

On Wednesday, she issued a statement saying: "This campaign is over. Andy has earned the right to represent us in Sacramento and I look forward to him delivering on his promises to create jobs, improve our economy, and deliver fresh, reliable water to our farms and families. It's time for each of us to get to work."
