New Probation Officer Selected For Fresno County

FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -

Fresno County on Tuesday welcomed a new chief probation officer.

Rich Chavez was selected by superior court judges to take the helm of the probation department. He takes over for Linda Penner, who retired.

Chavez, a Fresno State graduate, has nearly 30 years of experience with the Fresno County Probation Department.

He started his career as a group counselor at the juvenile hall and went on to serve as the juvenile justice campus project coordinator.

He starts his new position on Aug.5.
