Posted:

The Tulare Police Department on Tuesday released the name of the man suspected of robbing a Wells Fargo bank before being shot by deputies.

Nolen Burchett, 33, of Visalia, robbed the Wells Fargo bank at 229 E. Tulare Street around 5:19 p.m. on Monday.

Deputies say Burchett then led them on a chase in a red Jeep that ended when he crashed Caldwell Avenue and Demaree Street in Visalia.

Neighbors say they saw Burchett get out of the Jeep and then reached toward his side. That's when deputies opened fire.

Burchett was taken to Kaweah Delta Medical Center for treatment.
