Carstens Fire Grows To 1,600 Acres


The Carstens Fire in Mariposa County continues to grow.  Firefighters estimate it has burned 1,600 acres now; they have it just 15% contained.

Starting Tuesday, the U.S. Forest Service will use helicopters to drop firefighters onto the front lines.  Currently, there are some 800 firefighters working to put out the wildfire.

About 300 homes in the Lush Meadows community were evacuated on Monday.
