It's a hotly debated topic and Fresno voters on Tuesday will head to the polls to decide the fate of who collects the city's trash.
The special election will give voters two options: A vote in favor of a contract with Mid Valley Disposal to privatize residential trash service or keep trash pick up in the city's hands.
Mayor Ashley Swearengin says a vote in favor of privatizing residential trash service will save the city millions and prevent layoffs.
Opponents of the measure say people will lose their jobs if it's approved.
