Friends and family mourned the loss of a Reedley woman and her 6-year-old daughter.
"I wish I would have told my sister I loved her," said Jesus Jauregui, who remembered his sister and niece fondly and wished he had more time with them.
Diana Jauregui and her daughter Jocelyn were driving home from a party when their car was rear ended by a truck.
The impact pushed the car off the road; killing them both. The girl was in the backseat of the totaled car. Two other people were in the car -- a man and a young boy, the California Highway Patrol said. The two are said to be in stable condition.
After the crash, the passenger and the driver of the truck took off into nearby orchards.
Police caught up with the passenger but the driver got away.
Beer bottles were found near the truck and it smelled of alcohol, CHP said.
Police say they are still looking for the driver. He was last seen on foot on Frankwood Avenue by the Reedley airport.
They are asking people with information to come forward.
