Zombie Run To Benefit St. Jude's Children's Hospital

SANGER, Calif. (KMPH) -

The Grove in Sanger is set to host a family-friendly run benefiting the St. Jude Children's Hospital next month.

The Mud ‘n Blood Zombie Run -- a 2.5k or 5k course through Zombie infested blueberry fields, tree lined roads, over and through water crossings plus ups and downs and ins and outs obstacles --will be held at 7 a.m. on Sunday June 2.

Each runner will start with three flags. The object of the race is to finish the course as fast as possible with at least one flag remaining, organizers of the run say. Zombies on the trail will attempt to "infect" you by stealing your flags. "Medics" will be on hand to nurse you to health (give you back one flag, one time). Teams of any size can run or you can run on your own.

There are prizes for craziest running wear to best-dressed team

After the run, organizers will host a Life After Death Party that will include food, drinks and live music. There will also be a beer garden for participants 21 and older.

The cost to register as a runner or as a zombie that runs is $58 until May 15. After May 15, the price is $68 until May 31. Registration the day of the event will be accepted until organizers run out of spots to assign to run.

The cost is $28 for kids ages 8 to 14 who would like to run and zombies that will not run.

Organizers of the event say they are expecting more than 1,500 runners.
