Firefighters on Tuesday battled a Madera County wildfire in what they are calling a "wake up call" for an early fire season.

The fire started in the afternoon at Finegold Creek and Road 210, about thirty miles north of Fresno.

About 200 firefighters were called in to fight the flames in the rough terrain.

By 7:30 p.m., the wildfire had consumed 200 acres but was 50 percent contained. Several buildings were threatened but none damaged, firefighters said.

The cause of the fire is unknown.
