Body Discovered In Porterville Apartment

Posted:
PORTERVILLE, Calif. (KMPH) -

The Porterville Police Department is investigating the death of a man found inside of an apartment early Friday morning.

Police discovered the body of 35-year-old Refugio Reyes around 8:30 a.m. in an apartment unit in the 100 block of North Prospect Avenue.

Reyes, who police say was found with a gunshot wound to the head, did not live in the apartment unit where he was found. Reyes was staying in the apartment overnight while the resident was working, according to police reports.

Neighbors reported hearing gunshots around 1 a.m., but no calls were made to the police department, police said.

Police say Reyes was shot from outside the apartment.

An investigation is underway.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Porterville Police Department's Investigations Unit at (559) 782-7400.
