Two schools were briefly placed under lockdown Monday morning after gunshots from a passing vehicle were reported, Fresno Unified School District officials said.
Carver Academy and King Elementary School were placed on lockdown around 9:10 a.m., said Fresno Unified spokeswoman Susan Bedi. The two schools share a campus.
Bedi said the shots were fired from a vehicle driving by. The shots were not fired at the school, she said.
The lockdown was lifted a short time later after the Fresno Police Department notified school officials that it was safe to reopen.
