Chowchilla Man Claiming To Be U.S. Diplomat Arrested


Two Chowchilla men, one, who claiming to be U.S. Diplomat,were arrested Friday for possession of methamphetamine, the Madera County Sheriff's Office said.

Richard David Velez, 44, and Johnathan Daniel Cobian,25, were booked into Madera County Department of Corrections shortly after 2:30 a.m. after deputies stopped their car near a Valero gas station on Avenue 24 in Chowchilla.

Deputies say Cobian, who is on probation for vehicle theft, was wanted on three warrants.

Cobian remains behind bars at this hour with bail set at $25,000, the sheriff's office said.

Velez remains behind bars with bail set at $5,000.
