Vandals Attempt To Set Merced Classroom Ablaze

MERCED, Calif. (KMPH) -

Arson is considered the cause of a fire at a Merced school early Tuesday morning, the Merced Police Department said.

Authorities responded to the fire about 1:22 a.m. at the school at Farmdale Elementary School on 100 Windor Avenue.

Officers who arrived on the scene discovered three individuals had broken into one of the classrooms, vandalized the interior and attempted to burn the classroom.

Police say the three suspects appear to be young males.

There was video footage of the incident, but police say they are unable to release it due to investigative reasons.

The incident is currently under investigation.
