FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A man and a woman suspected in a weekend shooting were arrested on Monday after returning to the scene of the crime, the Fresno Police Department said.

Charles Williams, an 18-year-old West Fresno gang member, is accused of shooting and wounding a 26-year-old man outside of a southeast Fresno liquor store on Saturday morning, police said.

Williams was with 21-year-old Shacola Muhammad at the time of the shooting, police said.

Police say Williams and the shooting victim were involved in an argument inside of the store that eventually spilled outside.

While outside the store, Williams pulled a handgun from inside of a backpack and fired several shots at the man, grazing his head.

Williams and Muhammad then fled in an SUV, police said.

Detectives said Williams and Muhammad returned to the store to purchase cigarettes. They were arrested immediately.

The SUV was towed and detectives authored a search warrant and recovered the backpack which contained a loaded firearm.

Williams was booked into the Fresno County Jail for the shooting and being in possession of the firearm. Muhammad was booked into the Jail as being an accessory.
