FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

Three Fresno State students are being charged in the hazing incident that killed 18-year-old fraternity pledge, Philip Dhanens.

Leonard Louis Serrato,28, Aaron Joseph Raymo, 24, and 22-year-old Daniel Woodard Bake have been charged with hazing and providing alcohol to a minor. The charges could mean six months to a year in jail and a $5,000 fine.

Officials said that the three students did not have criminal records. According to the District Attorney's Office, evidence showed that the three did not intend for Dhanens to die, their actions led to deadly results requiring criminal intervention to hold them accountable

Dhanens was a pledge at the Theta Chi fraternity at California State University, Fresno. He was just weeks into his first college semester last August when he died from complications of acute intoxication.

His blood alcohol content was .40 when he died, nearly five times the legal limit.
