FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. (KMPH) -

The Fresno County Coroner on Thursday is expected to perform an autopsy on an intern who was killed after a lion at the endangered cat haven attacked her.

Fresno County Sheriff's Deputies spent the night and early Thursday morning sorting through the scene where 24-year-old Dianna Hanson, a volunteer intern from Lynnwood, Wash., was attacked and killed by a 4-year-old male African lion at Project Survival Cat Haven in Dunlap, about 40 miles east of Fresno.

Hanson's father, Paul, says he takes some comfort knowing his daughter, who he says started the internship in January, died doing something she loved.

"This is her dream come true working as an intern. Even though it  was unpaid, she lived on the premises. They had a little trailer there that  the interns lived in and she just loved. This was her dream come true,  working with big cats all day long, nothing but big cats," he said.
