The U.S. Embassy and Peru Ministry say Garrett Hand and his girlfriend Jamie Neal, the couple that went missing on Jan. 25 while on a bike tour in South America, are alive and on boat heading to Ecuador.

Hand and Neal, both 25, were last heard from on Jan. 25. The couple were planning on traveling from Cusco to Lima, Peru, when their families lost contact with them.

KMPH began following the story last week. In a sit-down interview with Hand's mother, she said she has directed all of her efforts into searching for the two.
