FRESNO, Calif. (KMPH) -

A woman had to be rescued early Thursday morning after she fell into a basement of an abandoned industrial building in south Fresno.

The woman, who fire officials say was in her 40's, wandered into an abandoned dog food plant at Goldenstate Boulevard and Cedar Avenue. She fell about 12 feet through a hole in the concrete floor and landed on a steel catwalk, said Fresno Fire Department spokesman, Koby Johns.

The Fresno Fire Department Urban Search and Rescue Team responded to the scene around 3 a.m.

They found the woman suffering from injuries that prevented her from walking out of the structure on her own, Johns said.

She was transported to Community Regional Medical Center and was treated for her injuries.
