San Francisco Giants pitcher George Kontos has been added to Thursday night's Hot Stove Gala put on by the Fresno Grizzlies.
Kontos replaces Giants pitcher Ryan Vogelsong as the events guest speaker. Vogelsong, originally announced as a guest speaker back in December, is unable to attend due to non-severe health reasons.
"The run of unfortunate events regarding tonight's Hot Stove dinner continues, and we are sorry to our fans who expected to see Ryan Vogelsong," said Managing General Partner and Team President Chris Cummings in a press release.
He added, "George Kontos and the Giants came through in the 11th hour, though, to help us put on a great show for tonight's guests. Kontos will provide plenty of insight into winning a World Series against the Detroit Tigers as well as the experience of going from the Grizzlies at the start of the season to ending with the Giants on top of the baseball world in October."
Kontos, 27, was one of the 17 of the 25 players on the Giants' 2012 World Series roster who has also played for the Grizzlies in his career.
He joins Detroit Tigers pitcher Doug Fister and Fresno Grizzlies manager Bob Mariano as speakers for the event.
